A Study on Songs V.

There are times when we get a sense of distance from God and if you have ever felt this way you know that it isn’t a good feeling at all. We may find that we have lost joy in our Bible reading, have trouble praying, or that our devotionals have become stale and dry. Sometimes our busy schedules get in the way, we have unrepentant sin that lingers in our spirits, and at other times we just seem to lose the fire that we had when we were first saved.

The fifth chapter of the Song of Solomon tells us of the Shulammite Brides separation from her lover and how deeply she misses him when he’s not around her, to the point of going out into the city to search for him. I’m sure many of us have felt the separation from someone close to us that we love very dearly and it’s sad to say that many of us are going through this very thing right now. But as the Shulammite Bride learned about her lover we can learn from God exactly what it is about Him that causes us to love Him so much and that He is larger than our feelings (1 John 3:20). Although we may feel far from Him, He is always closer to us than we can ever think, hope, or imagine.

The Bridegroom)

5 “I have come into my garden, my sister, my [promised] bride;
I have gathered my myrrh along with my balsam and spice [from your sweet words].
I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey;
I have drunk my wine with my milk.
Eat, friends;
Drink and drink deeply, O lovers.” (Song of Solomon 5:1)

In this first verse before the dreaded separation between him and his bride Solomon expresses his love and satisfaction for her. God is always satisfied with you. Before the separation from Him you may be feeling He was right there happy with you, just as even now he is right there waiting in hopeful expectation for your return to Him. Did you ever notice that no one ever speaks of God returning to us? That’s because we are the ones who get distracted and fall away. But praise the Lord! Our God is always right there with us.

“Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

The Shulammite Bride)

“I was asleep, but my heart was awake.
A voice [in my dream]! My beloved was knocking:
‘Open to me, my sister, my darling,
My dove, my perfect one!
For my head is drenched with the [heavy night] dew;
My hair [is covered] with the dampness of the night.’ (Song of Solomon 5:2)

Sometimes when God is knocking we are not ready to receive Him into our hearts. But when we cry out to Him in the midst of our darkness His light will most assuredly pour in and flood our hearts and spirits with it’s warmth. So even if our hearts don’t seem “right” for Him running towards Him is always the perfect response.

“If you direct your heart [on the right path]
And stretch out your hands to Him,
14
If sin is in your hand, put it far away [from you],
And do not let wrongdoing dwell in your tents;
15
Then, indeed, you could lift up your face [to Him] without moral defect,
And you would be firmly established and secure and not fear.” (Job 11:13-15)

“I had taken off my dress,
How can I put it on again?
I had washed my feet,
How could I get them dirty again?” (Song of Solomon 5:3)

God wants you to be in fellowship with him, to speak to him, to walk near to Him no matter how sinful, how dirty, how hopeless you feel. God is a loving Father, a caring and understanding friend, and a most gracious and compassionate Savior.

15 “Today [while there is still opportunity] if you hear His voice,
Do not harden your heart, as when they provoked Me [in the rebellion in the desert at Meribah].” (Hebrews 3:15)

Don’t just come to Him today. Run to your Redeemer for your ransom from sin and death has been paid by Him forever.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

“My beloved extended his hand through the opening [of the door],
And my feelings were aroused for him.

“I arose to open for my beloved;
And my hands dripped with myrrh,
And my fingers with liquid [sweet-scented] myrrh,
On the handles of the bolt.

“I opened for my beloved,
But my beloved had turned away and was gone.
My heart went out to him when he spoke.
I searched for him, but I could not find him;
I called him, but he did not answer me.” (Song of Solomon 5:4-6)

When we make the Lord wait for us His presence will seem distant and we are left in frustration and at times may be stirred to anger at God and blame Him for our own impatience. Then He stirs up in us a desperate longing to find out where our Lord has went and what He’s up to.

“Seek the Lord while He may be found;
Call on Him [for salvation] while He is near.” (Isaiah 55:6)

Just as the Shulammite bride has to face the watchmen in the city and be pushed and prodded by them we too have to face the enemy of this world when we are on our search for the living God.

“The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me.
They struck me, they wounded me;
The guardsmen of the walls took my shawl from me.

“I command that you take an oath, O daughters of Jerusalem,
If you find my beloved,
As to what you tell him—
[Say that] I am sick from love [sick from being without him].” (Song of Solomon 5:7-8)

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Yet there are still those around us who will ask us why we are searching for our God at all inquiring as the chorus did to the Shulammite bride, what makes Him so special. Sometimes these are even those who had at one time stood in awe of God with us. At at other more prominent times the questions come from those who were never acquainted with God to begin with.

(The Chorus)

“What is your beloved more than another beloved,
O most beautiful among women?
What is your beloved more than another beloved,
That you should so command us to take an oath?” (Song of Solomon 5:9)

Our response to them all should sound with the admiration and praise the Shulammite has for Solomon and even more so because our first love is supernatural, omnipotent, omniscient and infinite: The Living God.

“My beloved is exquisitely handsome and ruddy,
Outstanding among ten thousand.” (Song of Solomon 5:10)

The word describes the Word very well when it says in John 1:14,

The Word Made Flesh

14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception).” (John 1:14)

We are alive in Christ and our lips are to sing songs of His praises.

“[They are living memorials] to declare that the Lord is upright and faithful [to His promises];
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” (Psalm 92:15)

Listen to the psalmist as he declares that the Lord is his “rock”. Even if the Lord feels far from you or you feel yourself drifting away remember that God is firm and immovable like a rock and He is the most stable anchor that there is and ever was.

These are some of the responses that we can give and I’m sure if you know the Lord closely you have many examples of your own as to why He is so good, why you love Him, and why you search for Him like you do. Just remember wherever you are in your spiritual walk, that He is very near to you.

If your sense of longing for God isn’t stirred up or if you have never met Him before let me encourage you as to one more reason to draw near to Him and give your whole self to Him today.

15 “He is the exact living image [the essential manifestation] of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible], the firstborn [the preeminent one, the sovereign, and the originator] of all creation.” (Colossians 1:15)

Be well and live blessed today.

A Study on Songs I.

As I read through the Songs of Solomon I realize that there is more to learn every step of the way and I’m hoping together we can learn from it’s beauty and break into it’s at times perverse wording to find the meat in it’s richness that applies very much to us today.

The Songs have a lot of layers and many ways of looking at it. On the one hand we can see it as a beautiful drama of love, relationship, and the union of marriage. We can also see it as the union of God to the church. The third layer that I want us to focus on is our relationship to God and how we dance together in sweet fellowship with Him, in an intimate relationship that He sees as precious and waters very well. (Isaiah 27:3)

Song of Solomon 1 Amplified Bible (AMP)

The Young Shulammite Bride and Jerusalem’s Daughters

1 The Song of Songs [the best of songs], which is Solomon’s.

(The Shulammite Bride)

“May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!” [Solomon arrives, she turns to him, saying,]
“For your love is better than wine.

“The aroma of your oils is fragrant and pleasing;
Your name is perfume poured out;
Therefore the maidens love you.

“Draw me away with you and let us run together!
Let the king bring me into his chambers.”

(The Chorus)

“We will rejoice and be

glad in you;
We will remember and extol your love more [sweet and fragrant] than wine.
Rightly do they love you.”

(The Shulammite Bride)

“I am deeply tanned but lovely,
O daughters of Jerusalem,
[I am dark] like the tents of [the Bedouins of] Kedar,
Like the [beautiful] curtains of Solomon.

“Do not gaze at me because

I am deeply tanned,
[I have worked in] the sun; it has left its mark on me.
My mother’s sons were angry with me;
They made me keeper of the vineyards,
But my own vineyard (my complexion) I have not kept.”

“Tell me, O you whom my soul loves,
Where do you pasture your flock,
Where do you make it lie down at noon?
For why should I be like one who is veiled
Beside the flocks of your companions?”

Solomon, the Lover, Speaks

(The Bridegroom)

“If you do not know [where your lover is],
O you fairest among women,
Run along, follow the tracks of the flock,
And pasture your young goats
By the tents of the shepherds.

“To me, my love, you are like
My [favorite] mare among the chariots of Pharaoh.
10
“Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments,
Your neck with strings of jewels.”

(The Chorus)

11
“We will make for you chains and ornaments of gold,
[Studded] with beads of silver.”

(The Shulammite Bride)

12
“While the king was at his table,
My perfume (Solomon) sent forth [his] fragrance [surrounding me].
13
“My beloved is to me like a pouch of myrrh
Which lies all night between my breasts.
14
“My beloved is to me a cluster of henna flowers
In the [fragrant] vineyards of Engedi.”

(The Bridegroom)

15
“Behold, how beautiful you are, my darling,
Behold, how beautiful you are!
Your eyes are dove’s eyes.”

(The Shulammite Bride)

16
“Behold, how fair and handsome you are, my beloved;
And so delightful!
Our arbor is green and luxuriant.
17
“The beams of our houses are cedars,
Our rafters and panels are cypresses.”

The love of the Shulammite Bride for her lover speaks volumes to the love and the joy we should have for God. We see that her lovers love is, “better than wine.” and in the bible we are reminded that God’s love for us is even better than life itself.

“Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.” (Psalms 63:3)

We are designed for the worship and the praise of our Lord and we come to this place when we truly get to know and to understand that God is love. (1 John 4: 7-21) When we do we too long in anticipation to run to God, to read his word, and to draw near to Him so He may draw near to us (James 4:8).

When I read the Song of Solomon in this way I often think of “the chorus” as the choir of God’s chosen children. In the first verses where the chorus sings they too rejoice in the Bridegroom and share in their love for Him. Believers in Christ have the privilege of being a part of a family of brothers and sisters who also rejoice in the Lord. As the chorus says of themselves, so it is of us, “Rightly do they love you” (Song of Solomon 1:4)

The Shulammite Bride is a confident woman who has worked hard in her brothers vineyards to the point that she hasn’t kept up with her appearance and yet she can have confidence because she knows that in the eyes of her groom, she is still beautiful. This my friend is the way you are viewed by God. No matter what you look like, no matter how much work you put in without keeping up with your appearance, no matter what, God still knows and loves you.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

The beautiful thing about our Lord is that He delights in us. No matter the season you are in, no matter how stressed out, no matter the tears in your eyes right now, no matter how tired you are God delights in you and He finds you precious.

Your relationship with Him is not based on anything you have done and it doesn’t vanish with how little you may think you have done for Him. As the Bridegroom is to his wife, so our Lord is also the Bridegroom of His church, and He is also like a Bridegroom to you.

“For as a young man marries a virgin,
So your sons will marry you;
And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
So your God will rejoice over you.” (Isaiah 62:5)

God is looking down on you from heaven His child, and He loves what He sees.

Breathe & Be Blessed

We all get tangled up in our feelings sometimes and yet as followers of Jesus Christ our goal should not be to remain there. This morning all manner of things were going wrong and I felt overwhelmed by the notifications on my phone going off, the things I had to do for the day, and all the things that went wrong yesterday and how I might get around to correcting some of them today. But then I reached for the light and found Him faithful to see me through.

In Michah 7:8 we are given one of God’s many promises that I think worthwhile for us all to take some time to stand on today.

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.” – Mic 7:8

The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10) and like a lion he is always looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8) but we are to hold onto our faith that God’s light outshines, interrupts, and defeats all traces of darkness in our hearts, in our minds, and in our lives.

Today may be a day where you feel the darkness closing around you but the Lord calls on you to rest in, to run to, and rejoice in Him and take delight in Him so His light can expel any overwhelming shadows.

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.” (2 Corinthians 4:7-11)

Rejoice and rise up. You who have been sunk down low. It’s time to lift your head up and take another step. You may have fallen but you are not beaten down. You may have slipped through the cracks but God calls you back.

The enemy is rejoicing, but reach out for the light. He is always there to catch you. He is right there by your side. Breathe and be blessed.

Nowhere Worthy

Wandering You found me Lord.

Lost out in a desert,

I once called home.

You saw through to the heart of me.

I collapsed, weakened to my knees.

With You, I am never alone.

I called You King.

I called You Mighty.

I said all manner of words, I did not know.

You saw me wandering,

You saw me lonely,

I could not turn back.

Where would I go?

Torn apart You found me Lord.

Holding on tightly.

To a blade of grass caught, up, in a strong wind.

You looked down into me, from the heavens.

Your hand held out large enough, to shelter me in.

You calmed the winds, right there with a whisper.

I held onto Your pinky, with a trembling grip.

I called You King.

I called You Mighty.

I said all manner of words, I did not know.

You saw me shaking and battered,

You saw me all alone,

I could not turn back.

Where would I go?

Filthy, smelling, and soiled with sin,

You saw me Lord.

Hiding away from You in the octopus ink, of dark.

Your eyes met mine with a smile,

Enflaming my soul to dance, in Your arms of feather, and stone.

Chilled down to my core,

You held onto me tightly.

As Your strong voice, sang me, sweetly home.

I called You Savior.

I called You Redeemer.

I called You all manner of names,

I at once, came to know.

You saw my sin.

You called me home.

Not looking back now.

Nowhere worthy, of You to go.

You saw my sin.

You still called me home.

No turning back now.
Nowhere else worthy, of You to go.

God-Conscious

There’s a friend of mine who has struggled with self consciousness all of her life. She has battled with lies from the enemy like “I’m worthless & ugly.”, “Nobody likes me.”, “I’m a screw up & a failure.”, “I’m fat and refuse to go outside.” She has gone to many a pity party and even invited some people over to crash. If you said hey, “that sounds a lot like me.”, guess what? Me too because yeah I’m that friend.

You might see my picture up here and think: she looks happy and perhaps somewhat attractive but I have a secret to tell. That’s me alright, but more like me from two years ago.

Two years ago I was 5’3, 130lbs. Two years, too many hostess cupcakes, chocolate chip cookie dough ice creams, and extravagant 5 star Chinese takeout dinners later, I’m 5’3 250lbs.

So that picture you see has changed quite a lot. I keep it up for two reasons. The first being that after being self conscious for years even after being at a decent BMI it’s the only picture of me I have. The second being that through God I have a goal to not only get back to that weight through diet change and exercise, but to be healthy and be able to reach out to others in need without being unable to breathe and in need of help myself.

Through God I have also, believe it or not developed an even more worthwhile goal than those. To love myself in the skin God gave me no matter what the size or shape I’m in. That my friends I’m finding is the best place to be, and without God’s strength and even at times I have to admit it, with God’s strength, I am finding it the hardest shoes to fill. But little by little as my friends I’m sure will tell, I’m becoming less and less self conscious because my heart is turning to a place of God consciousness.

Turning to God-consciousness is realizing that God loves you no matter what the world thinks of you or sees on the outside.

“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

Being God conscious is learning that God’s thoughts about you are precious and that it doesn’t matter what anyone says about you, no matter what thoughts are in your head telling you that you need to look a certain way or be a certain thing, or what their Instagram selfies or LinkedIn profiles are like, you are worth so much more to the very creator of the universe who calls everything He made “good”.

“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:17-18)

“So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” (Matthew 10:31)

“Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!” (Genesis 1:31)

God consciousness removes our shame of being who we are. We begin to see that God loves us and accepts us for who we are, and we begin to take refuge in that until it becomes the only thing that matters and makes a difference.

God sees your tears and loves you. God hears your fears and loves you. God sees your love handles, your struggles with binging, your struggle with eating, God sees your scars, sees your sins, sees your weaknesses, sees your doubts, sees your frustrations, sees your fears, sees your hopes, and all of your daydreams that never came to pass and guess what? He still loves you and accepts you as you are.

I opened myself up just now to let you in on some of my own struggles and I have said it before they may not be yours but hey, who are we kidding? We all have something we’re struggling with.

You can share with me your struggles and I can pray for you. God wants us you to be God conscious and come to Him where you are, how you are.

Whether you’re a seasoned believer or a hesitant convert it doesn’t make a difference to God because He loves you and is waiting and that will never change.

We can all get caught up in ourselves but there is hope in Christ. Trust in Him and find peace in being God conscious.

Being God-reliant and God- conscious takes the focus off of ourselves so we can pour out our hearts for others instead of comparing ourselves to them or getting lost in the lack of our own circumstances.

“So I went down to the potter’s house and saw him working with clay at the wheel. He was making a pot from clay. But there was something wrong with the pot. So the potter used that clay to make another pot. With his hands he shaped the pot the way he wanted it to be.

Then this message from the Lord came to me: “Family of Israel, you know that I can do the same thing with you. You are like the clay in the potter’s hands, and I am the potter.” (Jeremiah 18: 3-6)

Join me in being God conscious. I’m on the way there and I am finding it free because I get the chance to let go and let God, form me into the person He always meant me to be.

The Way. The Truth. The Life.

People are telling you to believe in Jesus and to trust in Jesus and you are asking yourself why?

People are calling you to watch church sermons and listen to worship songs and you pass them right on by.

I was there once upon a time myself. To be honest there have been times even though I have accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior where my feelings are just not in it. So yeah, I get it.

I have been blessed with Borderline Personality Disorder and if you do some research online not many people who live with it or have friends who have it would call it a blessing. But I do. Because I have found my true identity in the Lord.

Relationships are difficult for me. I go through times when I don’t want to get out of bed or leave the house because I get depressed.

Sometimes I start tasks and don’t finish them and sometimes I get anxiety to reach out and contact someone or pick up the phone. So as you can imagine my relationship with God is sometimes on the fence and difficult for me to maintain.

However, every day His mercies are renewed and when I cling to Him I find strength I never had. Also I am finding that as I continue to feed my relationship with Him all the others fall into place as all things fall into place when you find Him.

Maybe you don’t have a mental illness and are living the life. That’s great but my friend you are still in need of a Savior.

“All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

Sinning means to fall short of the mark of a close relationship with God. But Christ came so that our relationship with God the Father can be restored.

When I found Christ I was in an abusive relationship, looking for satisfaction in drugs, and on what seemed like a never ending search for love in all the wrong people, places, and things.

Then Jesus found me. He saved me from the enemies in my mind and He continues to shower me with His love, His grace, and His mercy. In Him I have found life, peace, and joy. I now know that there is no love greater than the love He has shown me and that’s how I know His love is ready and waiting for you.

His love is a free gift that is satisfying and constant. This is why I can call my illness a blessing today because I know that in Christ I can help someone who maybe is having a difficult time themselves, because I have been there, and because I know the power of the grace of God that has saved me and set me free.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

Jesus is the way to our Heavenly Father through His death on the cross and through His resurrection from the dead.

Jesus is the truth and the revelation of God for He is the word and His Holy Spirit is a gift that leads us into all truth.

Jesus is the life that we need that fulfills us when darkness is the only thing that we see and their is a void within us that only He can fill. (John 14:6)

“So while it is said, TODAY [while there is still opportunity] IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEART.” (Hebrews 3: 15 Amplified Bible)

Jesus died on the cross for you and shed His blood so you could have eternal life coursing through your veins and find everlasting fulfillment in Him today and ever after even until after you take your last breath.

“And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.” (1 John 2:17)

We are all facing a battle and a hard time right now. There is darkness all around us and you may have found there was darkness in your life even before the coronavirus hit us.

Maybe this is the first time you’re realizing how quickly life can change and how precious are the moments we have to spend with one another, and how the things of this life can be given to us quickly then be taken away just as fast.

There is one thing that can never be removed and that is the love that is found in Christ Jesus our Lord.

“For God so [greatly] loved you and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten son that when you believe and trust in Him [as Savior] you shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

The wages of sin is death. And that is eternal separation from God forever.

God is calling you to have a relationship with Him. I have learned that all relationships get better through Him for He is love and showers us with His love so we are fulfilled and so we can love others better.

I invite you to accept the challenge of inviting Jesus into your life.

Do you want life? Do you need healing? Do you need light to shine in your darkness? Do you have a void in your soul that nothing in this world is managing to fill?

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life who is all things and has come to give you life in abundance (John 10:10)

All you have to do is “confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

For, “In Him was the life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men.

“The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].” (John 1: 5 Amplified Bible)

Who doesn’t need light in their life? I know I do and I have found it through Jesus Christ.

Why not accept the challenge and take the plunge? Trust in Him not in me and you will never be the same again. You will never be disappointed and in Him you will find rest for your weariness and peace for your soul.

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me [following me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST (renewal, blessed quiet) FOR YOUR SOULS. For My Yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29 AMP)

Come to Him.

He waits.

Faith in God’s Grace

God loves us as the body of Christ.

God loves you.

God gives us His grace.

Therefore God’s grace is for you.

God is calling on you to have faith in His grace.

The grace that has saved us in Christ through God.

“4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:4-10)

The grace of God’s forgiveness.

“And I will forgive their wickedness,    and I will never again remember their sins.” (Hebrews 8:12)

The grace of God’s mercy.

“16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16)

The grace of God’s unfailing love for you and for me.

“The Lord is compassionate and merciful,    slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.” (Psalm 103:8)

The grace of God’s patience.

“9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” (2 Peter 3:9)

The grace of God’s faithfulness.

“If we are unfaithful  he remains faithful for he cannot deny who he is.” (2 Timothy 2:13)

The grace of God’s healing.

26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

The grace of God’s miracles which are still very much present today.

” 21 He alone is your God, the only one who is worthy of your praise, the one who has done these mighty miracles that you have seen with your own eyes.” (Deuteronomy 10:21)

The grace of God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

“8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

Many times we live in fear, condemnation, or Judgment of ourselves or judgment from others. when we live by faith in God’s grace we realize that there’s nothing like it. God wants us to live in His joy, in His love, on reliance in Him, and under His grace always.

“8 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

Faith in God’s grace makes us strong in our weakness today just as it did for Paul in 2 Corinthians 12: 8-10

“8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

When you put your faith in God’s grace 1 John 5:4-5 becomes powerful and true for you:

“4 For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. 5 And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.”

God’s grace is your free gift from God. Our part is having faith in God’s gift of Grace to us.

So have faith in grace Brothers and Sisters in Christ and we will all share in the victory that has overcome the world!

Leap Into The Lord

Today is Leap Year Day and I invite you on this day to take a leap of faith in your life and leap into the Lord.

The Lord is faithful and when you take the leap He will make certain that you do not fall. (Psalm 37:24)

The Lord is good and no matter what you are facing today when you take the leap of faith and turn to Him in trust and faith He will be right their by your side. (Psalm118:6-9)

“For God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19)

The Lord is with you in all things and I invite you to leap along with Him right into the heart of God. He is right there waiting for you even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

Prayer for today:

Lord help me to trust in you as I make my leap of faith into your unfailing and everlasting love. I am ready to take a leap in my life relying on you and trusting in your faithfulness every step of the way. Take my hand and lead me. Hold my heart and guide it on your way with your hands of tenderness. I trust you. I love you. With you by my side I have nothing to fear. Thank you for joining me on this leap of faith. In the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

God loves you more than you know

Valentine’s day is approaching and God wants you to know.

No matter what you are going through He loves you more than you think or could ever realize.

God loves you right where you are.

No matter who you are. No matter what you have done.

God loves you.

He accepts you. He holds you. He has you in His hands and He is molding you.

He receives you. He welcomes you. He anoints you and He holds you.

For you are His child.

If you left He welcomes you home.

God is your Father and He loves you more than you know.

“The eternal God is your refuge. His everlasting arms are under you.” (Deuteronomy 33:27)

Be well today and God bless you!

God loves you.

Press On!

“Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord.” (Philippians 3:1)

This is the very beginning of Phillipians 3 and while we are going to look at verses 7-14 I think this is a great place to begin.

Paul encourages us to rejoice in the Lord no matter what happens. No matter if it’s cold outside or raining. Whether we have no job, are in pain, are sick, or down and out. No matter what happens or what season we in we are to rejoice in the Lord.

7   “I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done.

8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ

9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.

10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!

Pressing toward the Goal

12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.

13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,

14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”

What we hold valuable in this life brothers and sisters is of value to us. Paul found that everything was trash compared to what He found in Christ. Paul made a decision that the best thing in life was to become like Christ Jesus our Lord and this too we must all hold onto.

Our righteousness is found in Christ and what He did. Our salvation is NOT based on anything we did, have done, or could ever do!

We are made right with God by our faith in Jesus Christ alone.

2 Corinthians 3:5 says, ” It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.”

Pauls desire was to experience the Power of the Holy Spirit living inside of him and I want to remind us all that the Holy Spirit now lives within all of you once you have come to believe.

You think you can’t do something? With Gods spirit you absolutely most assuredly can!

Remember that “Nothing” and that means not anything under the sun is impossible with our God! (Luke 1:37)

When we die to ourselves daily and are willing to leave all behind for Christ we will experience power and life. The same power that brought our savior back from the dead.

Paul acknowledged that he wasnt yet perfect But in verse 12 of Phillipians 3 he says that he Presses On!

Today I encourage you my friends no matter what lies ahead or behind: Press On!

Let us forget the past and look on towards our eternal future only lingering on and proclaiming those things that will bring God the glory He deserves.

Let us Press On! To reach the end of the race. For we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength! (Philippians 4:13)

The same God who gives you power to breathe gives you power over your emotions, your feelings, your doubts, and indecisions and the shackles and strongholds that keep your body and mind imprisoned.

So now, as Paul did let us all press on… In Christ!
