He Mends Broken People

“Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8)

The Word of God is a tapestry of broken stories and broken people getting mended piece by piece by the hands of our faithful Father God. God builds up His people and transforms them into masterpieces for His glory. God built up His people Israel in Exodus when they were under the bondage of slavery to Pharaoh and He chose Moses as His mouthpiece; Moses a man weakened by a speech impediment, a murderer chosen by God, who was reluctant to do the Lord’s will, yet became a man close to God. Moses eventually received the Law of God, parted the red sea through the power of God, and became the voice of God’s chosen ones.

“In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.” (Exodus 15:13)

We can also take a look at King David who sinned tremendously by killing Bathsheba’s husband Uriah in the hope to save face for using his authority to get Bathsheba into his palace, sleep with her and then have a child by her. David wanted Uriah to have sexual relations with his wife so that he would think the baby was his own, but things didn’t happen that way, and David fell deeper and deeper into sin. In the end David had Uriah put to death to save his own reputation. Yet this very same man, this king, was said to be near to the Lord’s heart because the Lord remembered David’s devotion to Him, and forgave him for his sin after hearing David’s cry in repentance.

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.” (Psalm 51:1-5)

There are so many wonderful stories in the bible of God transforming people into masterpieces and there are many wonderful bible stories out there still being written today. If you are a child of God walking in the light of salvation your life is a continuation of the Bible in real time because your walk with God is a daily progression to the glory of He who mends people all day everyday making what is broken in you, beautiful.

If you are broken today and need healing please know that you aren’t alone for I was there too. In Christianity there aren’t any perfect people. We are all being perfected everyday into the image of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you haven’t yet surrendered your life to Christ He can mend you too once you do. You might say that you’re not broken, but there is always a little flaw in us all even if we look on the outside like we have it all together. Either way I invite you today to seek the one who created all things and who can mend every broken piece of your spirit, your life, and your strength and put you back together without leaving a single piece of you the same.

Let us pray:

Lord we are Your people and we come to You today for we know that You are the only one who can change us and never leave us the same. Take our lives and transform them. Take our hearts and renew them. We surrender our lives to You. Heal us and make us all brand new as we give our lives away to You, to do what only You can do. Thank You. In Jesus name. Amen.
